PETS & RESPACK

Natural disaster communication devices

Details

Indonesia is a country that is prone to disasters. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has prepared a National Disaster Management Plan for 2010-2014 so that it can carry out disaster management in an integrated, coordinated, and comprehensive manner. In addition, the government must conduct a thorough search during the golden period of 72 hours using the available communication infrastructure.

In order to address these communication infrastructure issues, there is a need for technological products that can assist emergency response operations, both for use by SAR teams and disaster victims. To facilitate quicker and more efficient post-disaster aid and recovery activities, the communication tool might be a Handy Talkie (HT). In addition to being able to capture images of victims or disaster-affected areas, HT can also be used for video communication and communicate two-way (full-duplex) between personnel simultaneously.

SAR personnel named the communication device RESPACK (Rescuer Telecommunication Pack). They will base RESPACK on ad-hoc wireless communications and be use for voice, data, and video communications. On the other hand, they named the GSM-based communication facility that they will develop PETS (Portable Emergency Transceiver System). In addition to being portable, PETS will be able to deliver voice, data, and text (SMS) over 2.5G telecommunications services. An informational dashboard may also be used by the SAR team and locals to provide information in the form of photos of the surrounding conditions.

We autonomously produce our items in order to boost our competitiveness. Not only that, we can also prevent the company from becoming dependent on other parties through this activity. On the other hand, the opportunity for acceptance of the product by clients is also high, considering the extent and number of disaster mitigation institutions in Indonesia, such as BNPB, BASARNAS, PMI, PVMBG, and BMKG.
